Such are the joys of analogue recordings! This SDR is really dynamic and full sounding - a reminder that SDR and XDR could be the way to go as I hunt down all of the best versions. I was able to get one and a third decent plays from it and it is now sounding tired again. I had some luck with the A Saucerful Of Secrets tape because it was faulty when Lennyif tried it. A strange decision to produce the album this way back in the day. This version of Ummagumma contains just Astronomy Domine from the live album and all of the studio tracks. I believe that the Ummagumma tape will be superseded at some point but it is a good marker to compare other versions against and a really smooth listen. My sincere thanks to Lennyif for letting me borrow his tapes and allowing me to share them A first edition US Ummagumma tape, which is in remarkably good condition, and an SDR cassette of A Saucerful Of Secrets. I've added two very nice recordings to my folder this afternoon.
